Title: Fairy Glade and Other Enchanting Tales
Author: Dawn Beaumont-Lane
Fairies, elves, and pixies flitter through this chapter book bringing delight to children of all ages. A collection of stories written by a great story- teller, this book is one that will thrill and entertain your children and grandchildren.
Meet Arty, the frog and Sammi, the lizard as they find many things in common. Although they look different, they soon learn that they are really the same under their skin. A great message for children in today?s world? You bet!
Tilly and Teddy chug along in Teddy Bear Junction, overcoming their challenges and saving the day.
Dusty, the Dove, learns that he can?t run from his troubles. Even as an adult, I could identify with poor Dusty, whose father has gone away. Very well presented, subtle but positive significance between the lines.
Dawn Beaumont Lane has done an excellent job of entertaining while teaching. The book contains some great stories, written in simple easy to read vocabulary. Each tale contains a valuable lesson, nicely hidden in the plot. Nothing preachy here, just fun. The book is a chapter book and therefore does not contain illustrations. The cover is colorful and will attract the buyer.
Born in England, author Dawn Beaumont Lane suffered with Dyslexia as a child. She has overcome her fears and with the help of a good editor, is now living her dream of becoming an author. Ms. Beaumont-Lane encourages children and adults alike to learn to overcome this challenge. Readers will find footnotes in the book after some of the stories, explaining how she wrote them for her daughter as Christmas gifts, when life was difficult. Life has improved greatly for this deserving author. She now lives in Canada with her husband, John.
I will share this book with my nieces and nephews and I definitely recommend it, not only to parents and grandparents but to teachers as well. Available in ebook and printed format.

Welcome to Story Time
PEDRO
My Life
Prologue
The first part of chapter one I have written through Pedro's eyes. So you can see how Pedro felt about his past life and the happy changes to come.
I always wished I could talk with Pedro; and ask him how his life was before he came into our lives.
There are times when I look into his eyes and see the fear and the sadness there.
What is known of his history and the vet's comments on his overall health is the WHY, for this section of Pedro's story from his POV.
"PET'S HAVE FELLINGS TOO"
"Hi! Over here, it's me Pedro, the little black and white dog sitting in the top cage. I don't like this strange, smelly building. I'm waiting here for a kind human to choose me for their pet so I can go to a loving home. I just want to be loved and love them back; and have a warm bed in a safe place and a nice meal every day.
My people left me here last night. She said I was the last straw to break the camels back. That's because I was angry with the cute poodle puppy she brought home and coos over. She said I snarled and snapped at him when she pushed me out on the porch to live.
He said, I was not so bad, if I was to get to know the puppy and could have my treasured toys back, the ones She took away from me and gave to the puppy.
She said, "No way!? He's a nasty dog I don't want him in the house anymore."
"So here I sit, thinking of how it all began and why they stopped loving me.
I think they stopped loving me, when they brought home the cute white curly haired poodle puppy. He took over my bed my toys and my people.
I'm living outside now on a cold damp porch. No bed, just a sack to sleep on. Guess who's sleeping in my bed?
The wind, rain, thunder and lightening make me whimper and shake.
I don't have anywhere to hide on the porch.
When I lived in the house, I could hide under the bed on my master's side until it was safe to come out.
He'd pat my head and whisper. "It's going to be okay Pedro." That made me feel so much safer.
I have sore shoulders, and my hind legs hurt. It's because she kicked me when I bark.
I do that when someone knocked on the door. That's my job!
I smell bad too and I hate that. I haven't had a bath in so long. I don't like being dirty. So I wash my paws many times a day just so part of me is clean.
My tummy is sore too. I think it's because I raided the garbage can for food and I drank dirty water from the rusty can. She has stopped feeding me that yummy dog food and filling my water bowl.
Pedro watched the young girl working her way down the rows of cages.
"Hey! Over here, you're the kennel maid aren't you?
If someone comes in here looking for a dog, show me to them, please!
So I can get out of here I hate confined places. I just want to love and be loved by someone." . . . . . I barked.
The kennel maid stopped at my cage. She opened the cage door and lifted me out and cuddled me!
"Come here Pedro there?s a lady here looking for a small dog."
"Oh! Boy, oh boy, this could be it. Look cute" I barked.
The bright lights of the reception area made me blink. I lowered my head to take a peak at the lady, Mrs. Lane. She looked soft and kind and she is smiling!
"This is Pedro, Mrs. Lane. He's a four year old Cheehapoo and he needs a new home."
"Hello Pedro, you're a little larger than I was looking for in a dog. You sure are a handsome fellow. Can you put him on the floor, please?" The kind lady said.
The kennel maid placed me on the floor and tied a lengthy of rope around my neck. My curly tail was between my legs and my head was down. I lifted my sad watery eyes to hers and got her right there.
"He's so cute poor darling but he looks so sad; what's his story?
Can I hold him?"
"Yes, be careful he has sore ribs Mrs. Lane."
She placed me in her arms and she held me lovingly. I licked her face and nuzzled closer.
"Can I take him outside with me? I want to see if he will walk with me happily."
"Yes please do. Mrs. Lane"
We came bustling back from the cold air the snow storm was still raging. I shook the snow from my coat and nearly fell over.
"Come here little man and let me dry you with my scarf."
"How was he Mrs. Lane?"
"Pedro is a snow dog. He rolled over and over in the snow and ran around in circles the little darling... I love him already.
Actually he grabbed my heart when you first brought him out of the kennels. When he looked into my eyes, I could see pain, sadness and HOPE there.
I want to take him home with me today."
